Weezer Throws A Tantrum And Some Lady Sets A Dumb Record

So that nerdy bunch of guys that is responsible for starting this gay ass emo trend has decided to throw a hissy fit to exemplify the emo image. Instead of doing something useful with their time (making music, touring, snorting lines of the asses of obese hookers), Weezer has decided to smack Miller Brewing Company with a phatty lawsuit. The allegations claim that Miller Brewing Company ran 3 advertisements in 2004 with the band's image being used.

While they may have a valid claim, their compensation is ridiculous: punitive damages amounting to three times the actual damages or the defendants' profits, whichever is higher; and an injunction against any further use of the band's image.

Also added to the claim against Miller: They have an objection to being featured next to other bands whom [Weezer] do not wish to be associated in any advertisement, including Velvet Revolver, Bon Jovi, Puddle of Mudd, Trapt, and Incubus. While I can see this as being a valid claim, I assume that Weezer is just upset that they are being featured along side something as manly as beer. I doubt we'd hear the same whining if it were an advertisement for feminine hygiene products or Bon Bon’s.

In other asinine music news, Katie Melua set a world deep-water record by performing a concert 994 feet under the North Sea in the leg of an oil platform. Craig Glenday, editor of the Guinness Book of Records, confirmed the record for "the world's deepest underwater concert performed in front of an audience." I can count the number of people who care on my index finger, and the singer herself is included in that count.
