The Horrors Video For Who Can Say & Full Album Stream

Everybody that knows me, knows that I am a huge fan of those psychobilly fiends, The Horrors. When I got up this morning and saw that a new video had been released for a track called Who Can Say, I was prepping myself for some true madness. However, it seems to me as if these guys have taken some tranquilizers, joined a tribute band to The Strokes, and attempted to cover a song by The Horrors.

The above isn’t necessarily a bad thing as the more melodic direction will help them gain some new fans, but the initial charm in my opinion of The Horrors was that they just didn’t give a rat’s piehole about scaring people away…They were true to their name. Enough venting though as I’m still really into the song, despite the band name attached to it, so I’m sure you will too (as everything I like, is cool). I just like sounding like a bitter fan mad at the change of a band’s direction, because I believe progression is overrated.

If you’re like me and you can’t wait until May 4th to hear the new album Primary Colours by The Horrors, than NME has your back. Stream it in it’s entirity here!

Mick Boogie and Curtis Santiago - HAVE MERCCYY!

I love to wake up and see some free goodies waiting for me in my mailbox. Today’s auditory treasure came in the form of a download link and a swanky press release from Mick Boogie and Curtis Santiago promoting their mixtape HAVE MERCCYY! Being as I saw that Uncle Jesse and Michelle were featured, I just had to give this a shot…and I am glad I did.

Any artist that can take a song that was already written and perfected by another artist, and put their own stamp on it, has my respect. These 2 musical juggernauts earned my respect 10 fold. Whether it’s taking Kings Of Leon’s Sex On Fire and giving it a Prince like flair, or recreating The Killers’ track Human and recording it as it should have been the first time, you are never really able to pinpoint a distinct style that these 2 have. As was noticed in a post track interview that each song seems to have, each song has it’s own “character”, which keeps things interesting.

Just to keep you all busy, there’s a promo video below, a stream and download of one of my favorite cuts from the album, and a link that’ll let you download it all in it’s entirity. HAVE MERCCYY!

Beck Covers Sonic Youth - Green Light

In honor of Record Store Day, Beck and Sonic Youth got together thanks to Matador to press 2,500 copies of a killer 7″ vinyl split. On one side, Sonic Youth covered Beck’s Mellow Gold cut Pay No Mind (Snoozer), while Beck covered EVOL track Green Light. The 7″ seems to have sold out pretty quickly, but if you’d like to listen to Green Light covered by Beck, you can do so below. Hopefully we can hear Pay No Mind (Snoozer) covered by Sonic Youth soon. When it hits my inbox, I will get it up here ASAP. Until then, enjoy what I’ve been able to track down so far!

Silversun Pickups - Panic Switch Remixed by Chin & TroubleMaker

Silversun Pickups

Laced with epic electronic drum fills and fade in/outs that make you think you’re losing your hearing, Panic Switch by Silversun Pickups has been remixed. TroubleMaker got together with Chin (aka Kristian Rile) to give the shoegaze rockers track a trance-like treatment. The blend is quite intoxicating and definitely worth a listen if you need to take a few minutes for yourself to relieve a bit of stress. Hell, even if you’re not stressed and you have a hankering for some good ol’ electronic shoegaze, this will easily fulfill your auditory needs!

And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead - Isis Unveiled (video)

Former buzzworthy band with a name that would make sense on a Panic At The Disco tracklist, has released a new video for the song Isis Unveiled. The video is definitely not something you’ll want to watch if you are currently on acid (as I know so many people surf the internet while on acid), but it is something you’ll want to see if you like insane demons, clans of dead people and the mug of Conrad Keely. Of course the music that accompanies it is worth a listen as well, so enjoy yourself!

Junior Boys Stream Begone Dull Care

If you like Canadian music with lots of synth beeps, blips and bops, than I’ve got something for you! Junior Boys are releasing Begone Dull Care on April 7th, but thanks to the guys at Imeem, you are able to stream this album below. I’m not sure that you can have a wild free-for all kegger type listening party with your friends for this album, but you can definitely invite a few over for some Jenga, Rubik’s Cube battles and grape soda. I suggest this because that’s what I’m doing later on. Enjoy the free album stream below!

El Grupo Nuevo De Omar Rodriguez Lopez

Omar Rodriguez Lopez is a man who apparently never sleeps, belongs to more bands than Dave Grohl, and can be used as a brillo pad if you turn him upside down and run him across the floor. Aside from all of those amazing facts, he is finally releasing Cryptomnesia, which is the first release in a series of three albums recorded in 2006. The album’s lineup is quite impressive and includes Zach Hill (HELLA) on drums, Jonathan Hischke (HELLA) on synth bass, and Juan Alderete de la Peña (THE MARS VOLTA) on bass guitar. Aside from those players, Cryptomnesia features the vocals of Cedric Bixler Zavala on eight of the album’s eleven tracks.

Check out the trailer below, and get ready for this bad boy to drop.
