Crystal Method Hit Vegas + LAZRtag Remix

Crystal Method

Thanks to the awesome crew at Filter Magazine, I was able to kick off my Memorial Day weekend with a strong dose of Crystal Method. Once arriving at the House of Blues at 11:59 for a late night show, you could tell that this was THE place in Vegas to be. The headliners didn’t hit the stage until around 2am, so anybody with a bed time had no business being there! Once the duo finally hit the stage adorned with 2 circular displays cycling through wicked images and epilepsy hating visuals, the immense wall of electronic sound almost knocked everybody right on their keysters.

Most of the cuts were lyric sparse, but for fans of electronica, they couldn’t have asked for anything more. Most die hard Crystal Method fans I’ve spoke too aren’t too huge on the direction they’ve taken in tracks such as Drown in the Now with a Matisyahu cameo, and it seems like they have made note of this during their live performance. As the night went on, the energy never broke down, and with the set topping off around an hour and 30 minutes, the after party crowd might have been a little drained and time constrained. Those who did venture off to after party land, probably didn’t get to experience mixmasters anywhere near the caliber of Crystal Method, and the sun probably came up much sooner than expeted.

The boys who were playing to their hometown crowd definitely did not disappoint. The light show was furious as every ass on the floor was shimmying. Seeing this many white people with impeccable rhythm in one place was quite astonishing, and I look forward to getting another cardio workout with Crystal method real soon! If they are passing by your city during any of their last 14 dates, be sure to grab a ticket and a sweat band, because nobody can make you boogie like these guys.

While it’d be easy to just leave you with this review and some tour dates, I think that it’s only fair if I give you something to listen to.

Afghan Raiders - Admiral’s Doorbell MP3 And Review

Afghan Raiders - Admiral's DoorbellEvery now and then I leave mi casa. Generally it’s to eat, get a little exercise, pick fights with senior citizens, or to listen to a little music. After getting word that Mikey and Beans of the Afghan Raiders were having a release party for Admiral’s Doorbell at the Beauty Bar, I knew that a trip outside of my neighborhood was a must. Upon entering the Beauty Bar, I couldn’t believe my eyes. The bar was packed wall to wall with people. While it would have been easy to assume that the drink specials were responsible for this, it was apparent once the Afghan Raiders took the stage, that these people were here for them.

As the room slowly filled with fog, multi-colored lights began flickering and a low bass drone made the room rumble. The anticipation was immense. The duo stood in stone like silence as high pitched squeals pierced my ears, and within the blink of an eye, these meditating Moog masters sprung into action. The bass pounded and the synchronized headbanging would have left Slayer in a state of awe. Mikey finally stepped up to clutch the mic, and his melodic wailing rounded out the sound that makes the Afghan Raiders stand out from the pack.

The adrenaline pumping 35 minute set provided it all: A semi-synchronized light show, mood setting fog, the push and pull of a packed house, a balloon release, a man dancing with a tambourine on his head, and two musicians that left a large crowd of music lovers chanting for more.

Bad Boy Bill and Alyssa Palmer - Falling Anthem

Untitled-1.eps

Despite what you may think, Bad Boy Bill isn’t a new rapper signed under P-Diddy’s Bad Boy label. Bad Boy Bill is a bonafied electronic badass that is skilled in the art of creating thumping house beats, simulated vertigo, and filling the dance floor up with a sea of sweaty bodies all clad in their boogie shoes. I won’t lie: I have an ear infection right now (unless a gallon of water is nesting in my ear canal), so the pulsating beats caused me drop to my knees in dizziness, but shouldn’t all good music have that effect?

Bad Boy Bill’s first release is titled The ALBUM, is set to drop on July 28th. Luckily you don’t have to wait for a preview track, as I got my hands on Falling Anthem f/t Alyssa Palmer. After you read this sentence and click the link below, you will have your hands on it as well.

Animal Collective on Letterman - Summertime Clothes

Last night before bed, I turned on the tube and was able to catch Animal Collective on Letterman performing Summertime Clothes. There were 2 reasons that I was unable to record it myself:

1. I’m ill equipped technologically, and haven’t the foggiest idea how to rip videos from my TV. I’ve sure I could grab it online somewhere, edit and upload, but let’s face it: I am lazy.

2. Those human starfish with the creepy dance moves scared the crap out of me, and I had to retreat to the corner of my room with my head down until they stopped. I get a bit on edge at night, as I’m scared of the dark. No, jackass…I don’t wet my bed (too often).

Thanks to Audioperv, I was able to watch this again with some sunlight showing in my house and I wasn’t as scared. If you’re a fan of the Collective, be sure to check this out. If you like creepy dancing by colorful cocoon creatures, then this video will be up your alley as well. If you don’t like either, then you’re out of luck because I am offering no alternative.

DJ Skeet Skeet Remixes The Library - You Don’t Need No Doctor, Sugar

The Library

Los Angeles based remix master DJ Skeet Skeet has remixed You Don’t Need No Doctor, Sugar by The Library. The already funky original track that blends nuances of Maroon 5, Rush and The Rapture, has been stirred up even more resulting in a track that just oozes manic energy.

If you’re starting to wind down a bit prematurely and you are aching for a double espresso, skip it, save a few bucks and just blast this track. If you feel like listening to the originals, be sure to pickup The Library’s self-titled EP from Feudal Records.

The Crystal Method Tour Dates And Sine Language Stream

crystal-method
It’s been 5 long years since The Crystal Method have toured the country, but that drought has finally come to an end. On May 12th, Divided by Night will be released to the masses, and they will already be on tour supporting it. If it is anything like the track Sine Language which is streaming on the band’s Myspace page, then  we are all in for a real treat. These electro-rock-hip-hoppers still have what it takes to get the crowds jumping, heads bobbing ,and the subwoofers banging!

In case you’ve never seen Crystal Method live, here’s a recent video of the band slaying it in Coachella with a couple of cardboard robots. The song being performed was LMFAO’s I’m In Miami Bitch, and you guessed it…The robots were none other than LMFAO themselves. While the sound on the video isn’t all that great, the performance sure was!

Mobb Deep & Sigur Ros - Shook (Emancipator Mash Up)

Emancipator-Shook (Mobb Deep & Sigur Ros Remix)Peanut butter and jelly.

Baseball games and beer.

Starsky and Hutch

Mobb Deep and uhhh… Sigur Ros?

Emancipator

Ok, so that last one might not seem like it would be a match made in heaven, but Emancipator has proven to us that it is. While Havoc and Prodigy might not agree on everything, I’d be willing to bet that they can agree that the Sigur Ros soundscape melted with Shook Ones Pt II is nothing short of amazing. Give it a listen below and if you want to hear some more of Emancipator’s one of a kind ambient tracks, Uh Oh Disco has 3 more for your listening pleasure.

Silversun Pickups - Panic Switch Remixed by Chin & TroubleMaker

Silversun Pickups

Laced with epic electronic drum fills and fade in/outs that make you think you’re losing your hearing, Panic Switch by Silversun Pickups has been remixed. TroubleMaker got together with Chin (aka Kristian Rile) to give the shoegaze rockers track a trance-like treatment. The blend is quite intoxicating and definitely worth a listen if you need to take a few minutes for yourself to relieve a bit of stress. Hell, even if you’re not stressed and you have a hankering for some good ol’ electronic shoegaze, this will easily fulfill your auditory needs!

Bjork Gets Remixed By Switch

bjork-flower1

If I were going to hop in a Mars bound space ship flown by Buck Rodgers, and it would be a 5 minute 15 second journey, I know what would be playing while on this mission: Bjork’s Nattura, remixed by Switch. This gem of a remix takes you from warp speed, to cruising, through turbulence, and then lands you without a scratch on your head. This could also be used as the song that plays during the Space Mountain ride and I wouldn’t complain. Regardless, sit back, crank up your speakers and get lost in this insane remix.
