The Crystal Method Tour Dates And Sine Language Stream

crystal-method
It’s been 5 long years since The Crystal Method have toured the country, but that drought has finally come to an end. On May 12th, Divided by Night will be released to the masses, and they will already be on tour supporting it. If it is anything like the track Sine Language which is streaming on the band’s Myspace page, then  we are all in for a real treat. These electro-rock-hip-hoppers still have what it takes to get the crowds jumping, heads bobbing ,and the subwoofers banging!

In case you’ve never seen Crystal Method live, here’s a recent video of the band slaying it in Coachella with a couple of cardboard robots. The song being performed was LMFAO’s I’m In Miami Bitch, and you guessed it…The robots were none other than LMFAO themselves. While the sound on the video isn’t all that great, the performance sure was!

I’ve always been a huge fan of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Whether it’s a complete freak out track like Art Star, or the whisper soft Maps, Karen O has never failed to impress me. Although they are skipping over my home town (Las Vegas) this time around, some of you within the states will get to see them very soon in support of It’s Blitz. If you’re lucky enough to have them stopping a city near you, be sure to start saving up a little cash. Xu Xu Fang EP Release And Free MP3 Downloads

xu-xu-fang

Today I was fortunate enough to receive some nice mellow tracks in my email that gave me a real eargasm. According to the email received, “Xu Xu Fang, featuring Bobby Tamkin (The Warlocks, Hovercraft), and Barbara Cohen, who sang with French band, Air, has anywhere from six to ten members and up to four guitars, creating a layered, psychedelic sound you would expect to hear emanating from a wooded bungalow in Laurel Canyon circa 1972. The rainy sounds of Xu Xu Fang echo early Black Sabbath with whispery vocals that tend toward Elliott Smith and My Bloody Valentine.”

On the 28th of April which as you may know, is tomorrow, the band will drop Seven Days Now. If you’re wanting to “premier” this song a day early, it will be featured tonight on the CW network during the show Gossip Girl. If you want to skip the teenie bopper television and premier it before the “premier”, why not just scroll down a few lines and stream or download two tracks from the new EP: Your Way and a cover of The Cure’s Fascination Street.

Great Northern - Houses Download And Stream

Great Northern Remind Me Where The Light Is

One of the first bands I covered for Filter Magazine two years ago was Great Northern. I was treated to an intimate show in a little dive bar that I will never forget. Now I hear this shoegazy band all over the place: Commercials, soundtracks TV shows and just about everywhere else. They’ve since been on regular rotation on my iPod and streaming on Imeem while I’m slaving away in my dungeon. Just as I was starting to need something to listen to other than Trading Twilight for Daylight, they decided to release Remind Me Where The Light Is exclusively at Newbury Comics on April 28.

If you absolutely can’t wait to get an earful of what Great Northern will be dropping on us on Tuesday, give the track Houses a listen. If it doesn’t bring a smile to your face, than there is a good chance that you are related to Mr. Ebenezer Scrooge.

The Horrors Video For Who Can Say & Full Album Stream

Everybody that knows me, knows that I am a huge fan of those psychobilly fiends, The Horrors. When I got up this morning and saw that a new video had been released for a track called Who Can Say, I was prepping myself for some true madness. However, it seems to me as if these guys have taken some tranquilizers, joined a tribute band to The Strokes, and attempted to cover a song by The Horrors.

The above isn’t necessarily a bad thing as the more melodic direction will help them gain some new fans, but the initial charm in my opinion of The Horrors was that they just didn’t give a rat’s piehole about scaring people away…They were true to their name. Enough venting though as I’m still really into the song, despite the band name attached to it, so I’m sure you will too (as everything I like, is cool). I just like sounding like a bitter fan mad at the change of a band’s direction, because I believe progression is overrated.

If you’re like me and you can’t wait until May 4th to hear the new album Primary Colours by The Horrors, than NME has your back. Stream it in it’s entirity here!

Mick Boogie and Curtis Santiago - HAVE MERCCYY!

I love to wake up and see some free goodies waiting for me in my mailbox. Today’s auditory treasure came in the form of a download link and a swanky press release from Mick Boogie and Curtis Santiago promoting their mixtape HAVE MERCCYY! Being as I saw that Uncle Jesse and Michelle were featured, I just had to give this a shot…and I am glad I did.

Any artist that can take a song that was already written and perfected by another artist, and put their own stamp on it, has my respect. These 2 musical juggernauts earned my respect 10 fold. Whether it’s taking Kings Of Leon’s Sex On Fire and giving it a Prince like flair, or recreating The Killers’ track Human and recording it as it should have been the first time, you are never really able to pinpoint a distinct style that these 2 have. As was noticed in a post track interview that each song seems to have, each song has it’s own “character”, which keeps things interesting.

Just to keep you all busy, there’s a promo video below, a stream and download of one of my favorite cuts from the album, and a link that’ll let you download it all in it’s entirity. HAVE MERCCYY!

Kid Cudi - Dat Kid from Cleveland Mix Tape

Kid Cudi isn’t slowing down as you can see here. In the last week, he has made this blog 2 times, but I’m not complaining. If you’ve already played A Kid Named Cudi from Plain Pat & Emile to death like I have, than this mix tape is exactly what you need.

Beck Covers Sonic Youth - Green Light

In honor of Record Store Day, Beck and Sonic Youth got together thanks to Matador to press 2,500 copies of a killer 7″ vinyl split. On one side, Sonic Youth covered Beck’s Mellow Gold cut Pay No Mind (Snoozer), while Beck covered EVOL track Green Light. The 7″ seems to have sold out pretty quickly, but if you’d like to listen to Green Light covered by Beck, you can do so below. Hopefully we can hear Pay No Mind (Snoozer) covered by Sonic Youth soon. When it hits my inbox, I will get it up here ASAP. Until then, enjoy what I’ve been able to track down so far!

Mobb Deep & Sigur Ros - Shook (Emancipator Mash Up)

Emancipator-Shook (Mobb Deep & Sigur Ros Remix)Peanut butter and jelly.

Baseball games and beer.

Starsky and Hutch

Mobb Deep and uhhh… Sigur Ros?

Emancipator

Ok, so that last one might not seem like it would be a match made in heaven, but Emancipator has proven to us that it is. While Havoc and Prodigy might not agree on everything, I’d be willing to bet that they can agree that the Sigur Ros soundscape melted with Shook Ones Pt II is nothing short of amazing. Give it a listen below and if you want to hear some more of Emancipator’s one of a kind ambient tracks, Uh Oh Disco has 3 more for your listening pleasure.
